On Wednesday, August 28th, the Town of Geddes will host Upstate Hospital’s mobile mammography van at the Geddes Town Hall. You do not have to be an Upstate patient to get a mammogram. Your results will be sent to the health care provider of your choice. No referral is needed. Preregistration is required. To register, call 315-464-2582 or www.upstate.edu/noexcuses. You can also pre-register in person on Friday, August 9th from 9 a.m. to Noon at the Geddes Town Hall.
**Women 40 Years and Older are eligible to use the van if: ****They have not had a mammogram in the past year ****They show no signs or symptoms of breast cancer
Background on the event:
Upstate University Hospital has been awarded a grant from the New York State Department of Health to purchase a mobile mammography unit to serve the 8 county region of Onondaga, Oswego, Oneida, Madison, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties.
The mammography van brings screening services to women throughout the 8 county region at local businesses and community organizations. This private, self-contained unit offers on-site breast cancer screening using the latest 3D technology.
